Great Collaboration Summit by the real estate regulator- Real Estate Council of Ontario, through the leadership of Jean Lépine, MBA and Hon. Stephen Crawford, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, on strengthening the sector.
It was a long day with ✈️ , 🚆 , and 🚕 crammed in 24hours, but well worth it!
From RECO:
“The focus: open dialogue and discussion on annual financial filings, trust account oversight, and the insurance program—key areas where collaboration is essential to protecting consumers and strengthening the sector.
This summit marks the beginning of more ongoing, transparent engagement with the industry, with more opportunities to come.
We were pleased to welcome the Honourable Stephen Crawford, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, to the inaugural RECO Collaboration Summit, and we thank him for taking the time to join the discussion.
As the Minister noted, this gathering reflects a shared recognition that ”Ontario’s real estate sector is evolving, that expectations are changing, that risks are becoming more complex, and that the regulator must be equipped to meet that moment.” He emphasized that ”the best solutions — the durable, thoughtful, practical ones — come from working together.”
The Minister highlighted the importance of today’s discussions on annual financial filings, trust account oversight, and the insurance program, noting that these issues “go to the heart of consumer confidence”. “
