Carleton Tavern Redevelopment

38 storeys. One iconic corner. A whole lot of community voices. 🏙️

Last week, I attended the community consultation for the proposed 38-storey tower at the @thecarletontavern site in Hintonburg. This is a major project in one of our busiest corridors and with that comes real questions about increased traffic, parking pressures, construction timelines, safety, and what the future holds for the beloved Carleton Tavern.

Before the meeting, I knocked on doors. After the meeting, I spoke with more neighbours. The message was consistent: residents care deeply about how this development will shape their community, and they want to get it right!

@hintonburgca isn’t just another neighbourhood to me. I lived and worked here before moving to Westboro, and some of my favourite spots in the city are right along these streets such as @hintonburgkids, @bridgeheadcoffee, @thethirdott, @elmdaletavern, @toothandnailbeer, @thehph, @banhmiyes.ottawa

Growth is part of a thriving city, but it has to make sense for the people who call it home.
